CASA MARGARITA GUEST HOUSE
Set within a 1903 manor in the heart of Colonia Roma, the former home of writer Margarita Quijano has been reimagined as an intimate four-suite sanctuary. Its meticulous restoration honors the original architectural nuances while introducing design and furnishings that engage in a dialogue with the era.
Blending the bespoke amenities of a boutique hotel in CDMX with the soul of a historic home, every corner invites guests to rediscover the art of slow living. The residence’s grand salons still echo the intellectual salons (tertulias) of a bygone age.
Margarita Quijano, known as "La Dama de la Capital," was a pillar of Mexican literature during the first half of the 20th century. Her home was a vibrant cultural crossroads, hosting luminaries such as Ramón López Velarde, Nahui Ollin, and Leonora Carrington.
Casa Margarita is part of Proyectos Públicos, a platform dedicated to transforming heritage buildings into an ecosystem where art, architecture, and hospitality converge. In homage to its former resident, the house hosts a curated program of literature, music, and poetry, from reading clubs and writing workshops to live music sessions. It also serves as a temporary residency for visiting writers and artists, reclaiming the cultural pulse of La Roma.
